Liguria and the Cinque Terre

Sat. October 4 to Sat. October 11, 2025

 

Again we will be based in the Hotel Tigullio et de Milan in Santa Margherita. From there we will take boat trips to Portofino and San Fruttuoso and visit Camogli. We will travel by rail to the Cinque Terre - and continue there on foot from Corniglia to Vernazza. The other towns of Manarola, Rio Maggiore or Monterosso al Mare can be visited on the free day.

The focus of the course will be portraits of local residents. During the first few days I will to give an introduction to the subject in the hotel. Then we will seek out our models on the streets and beaches. Landscapes can be taken by pencil, brush or even with a camera.

 

 
The evening meals will be taken in various trattorias serving typical Ligurian specialties such as Trofie con pesto, rabbit with olives, focaccia al formaggio and farinata (a pancake made from chickpea flower). The local drink is Vermentino, a white wine that is only available in Liguria. Delicious fish dishes await us at the taverns by the beach.

Costs for accommodation with breakfast and tuition: 1411 € / single room supplement 270 €.
